The Reunification Weekend at the Great Central Railway on 5th and 6th April was a successful one for the Trust, bringing in £534 (when Gift Aid is included) towards the overhaul thanks to the sale of books, magazines, DVDs, pictures, railway emphemera and many other items kindly donated to the Trust by members.

As well as the sales stand, the public were treated to cab visits with the loco being out in the yard. 61264 was positioned in front of a rather famous visitor – the replica of George Stephenson’s ‘Locomotion No. 1’, which was briefly at Ruddington for testing before returning to the Darlington area from where, later this year, it will be ‘going mainline’ hauling special trains on sections of the original Stockton and Darlington Railway, for which the original was built in 1825.

61264 has now been returned to the loco shed from where dismantling will continue – look out for further details on our Working Parties.

Thank you to everybody that came to help with the Reunification Weekend as well as anybody that donated items for the sales stand. We hope to be in attendance at future Ruddington events later this year.
