This coming weekend is the Great Central Railway’s 50th Anniversary Gala.

The GCR and 61264 go back many years; it is where 61264 was restored and first returned to steam in 1997.

To celebrate this long history, the Thompson B1 Locomotive Trust will have a stand at Quorn station where you can come and meet us to find out how to get involved and support us in our mission to have 61264 restored to traffic in time for her 80th birthday in 2027.

Dates: Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June 2023

Location: Quorn and Woodhouse Station, Forest Road, Loughborough, LE12 8AG (please park in the main event car park, £3)

More details of the event can be found here, including gala timetables which can be downloaded, and online ticket purchase:

There are lots of excellent things going on all weekend, including 5 locomotives in steam, ‘Iris’ the DMU, a Class 37 and a Peak, plus lots more exhibitions and activities besides.

We look forward to seeing you there!
